R Dist Comp Michael Barnes, Provincial Grand Summus for Surrey presided over the Annual Meeting of the Province at Surbiton Masonic Hall on Thursday, 18th July 2013 which was attended by more than 60 Members, Visitors and Guests from other Provinces.

We were honoured to receive the Deputy Grand Summus, R Dist Comp Ian Stanley Currans, in addition to some 20 other Guests from around the UK. A number of the guests had journeyed from as far as South Wales, together with guests from Kent, London, Essex, Sussex, Hampshire and the recently formed Province of The Chilterns.

The Provincial Grand Summus was pleased to re-appoint V Dist Comp Louis Keats, PGLect as Deputy Provincial Grand Summus, and to appoint Dist Comp Lionel Mee, PGSwdB as Assistant Provincial Grand Summus. Dist Comp Lionel has served as Provincial Recorder for the past 3 years, and he was thanked by the Provincial Grand Summus for his dedicated work and support over his time in that office. The Provincial Grand Summus also thanked Dist Comp Eric Trodd, the retiring Assistant, who had served the Province with distinction over the past three years.

A number of companions who had become members since the last Annual Meeting were welcomed into the Order by the Provincial Grand Summus.

The Provincial Officers for the year 2013 - 2014 were then appointed and invested and a full list appears elsewhere on this website. The Captain, Deputy Captain and Members of the Tzaddikim were all re-appointed and the Provincial Grand Summus thanked them for their support over the past twelve months.

The Provincial Grand Senatus Meeting was followed by the Installation Meeting of Surrey Consistory No 4 T.I. during which Em Comp Frank Powell was installed as the Distinguished President of the Consistory for the ensuing year. The outgoing President, Dist Comp Arnold Long conducted the ceremony in an excellent manner and with great dignity.

A total of 62 Members, Guests and Visitors attended the meeting, and 53 Companions later enjoyed an excellent and convivial lunch at the Festive Board.
